Description:

This model interprets a drawing of Leonardo’s contained in the Codex Atlanticus and represents the shaft or axle of a cart which uses a system of roller bearings.
The axle, rather than going all the way into the wooden or metal support, rests, near the wheel hubs, on two pairs of cylindrical rollers (one on each side), which act as bearings as they allow the shaft to turn faster and with minimal friction.
