LEONARDO AND PHILATELY
Fabrizio Fabrini’s collection

The collection of Fabrizio Fabrini – a fervent lover of philately – manages to tell a fresh story of Leonardo’s life and wits through a selection of philatelic items entirely dedicated to the Genius da Vinci.

Philately has actually been greatly interested in Leonardo’s figure: it could not have been otherwise, given the universal importance of the Genius from Vinci. The first issues of stamps – made by the Kingdom of Italy – date back to 1932. After that first release, many others have followed, from several countries: postcards, maximum, sheets and cancellations, up until Leonardesca, the recent series issued by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development in October 2015, that constituted an actual “postal revolution”.

These philatelic items from all over the world, exhibited in the rooms of the Vinci Museum (Palazzina Uzielli), will get to be a novel comment on the main episodes of Leonardo’s biography.
